چکیده

produced with squats using conventional weights at 1Gz. Subjects were divided into two groups. One group performed conventional squats resistance training (SRT) using free weights while the other group performed squat hypergravity resistance training (SHRT) on the Space Cycle. Each subject exercised eight times over two weeks on either the Space Cycle or using conventional squats. To determine muscle strength (and subsequent muscle hypertrophy) each subject’s 10RM (repetition max) and torque-velocity measurements of knee extensions were taken before and after the study. The 10RM is the maximum weight the individual can squat 10 times. Biopsies were also taken of the vastus laterialis before and after the study for analysis at a molecular level. The majority of subjects experienced increases in average peak torque exerted by knee extension and increased 10RM on squats. Using student t-tests, there was no significant difference in muscle strength increases between the SRT and SHRT groups. These results suggest that squat resistance training on the Space Cycle is capable of producing an increase in muscle strength similar to conventional squat resistance training using free weights.

Hypergravity resistance exercise: the use of artificial gravity as potential countermeasure to microgravity.

The aims of this study were to 1) determine if hypergravity (HG) squats can produce foot forces similar to those measured during 10-repetition maximum (10RM) squats using weights under normal 1-G(z) condition, and 2) compare the kinematics (duration and goniometry) and EMG activities of selected joints and muscles between 10RM and HG squats of similar total foot forces. Eight men and six women ...

Comparing the performance-enhancing effects of squats on a vibration platform with conventional squats in recreationally resistance-trained men.

The purpose of this investigation was to compare the performance-enhancing effects of squats on a vibration platform with conventional squats in recreationally resistance-trained men. The subjects were 14 recreationally resistance-trained men (age, 21-40 years) and the intervention period consisted of 5 weeks. After the initial testing, subjects were randomly assigned to either the "squat whole...

Chemical changes and shelf-life of conventional surimi and proteins recovered using pH change method from common carp (Cyprinus carpio) muscle during 5 months storage at -18ºC

Chemical changes and shelf-life of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) surimi prepared by conventional washing method and solubilization by acid and alkali processes were investigated during 5 months of storage at -18 °C. Results showed that surimi produced with acid and alkaline solubilization is significantly higher yield than the conventional surimi. Protein solubilization by using acid and alkali...
